Miniature Printed Carpet - Tazi

Salukis keep watch across an ivory field: standing, running and at rest among hares, partridges and flowering vines, each in a coral collar. At the centre a single saluki looks out from a lapis medallion. The tazı, the swift sighthound of the steppe, ran beside hunters from Central Asia to Anatolia and appears again and again in the hunting scenes of Persian and Ottoman miniatures. A chocolate border of gilt arabesque frames the hunt.

Printed on polyester chenille, a soft, velvety surface with a faint sheen that takes colour the way good paper takes ink. High-resolution digital printing carries every hairline of the design onto the rug, from the smallest leaf to the vine in the border.
