Miniature Printed Carpet - Coffee

Coffee reached Istanbul in the sixteenth century and never left. Here the plant itself fills a dark field: branches heavy with red cherries and white blossom, songbirds among the leaves, and at the centre a lapis ewer ringed by cups, waiting to be poured.

Printed on polyester chenille, a soft, velvety surface with a faint sheen that takes colour the way good paper takes ink. High-resolution digital printing carries every hairline of the design onto the rug, from the smallest leaf to the vine in the border.
