Miniature Printed Carpet - Lale

Row upon row of tulips fill the field, lapis and sage blooms interlocking so closely that each flower shapes the next, every petal traced in a fine gold line. Here and there a coral bud breaks the rhythm. The tulip was the flower of the Ottoman court, painted on İznik tiles and in miniatures, and it gave its name to an age: the Tulip Era of early eighteenth-century Istanbul. A lapis border of gilt flowering vine closes the garden.

Printed on polyester chenille, a soft, velvety surface with a faint sheen that takes colour the way good paper takes ink. High-resolution digital printing carries every hairline of the design onto the rug, from the smallest leaf to the vine in the border.
