Miniature Printed Carpet - Barbarossa

A walled harbour stands at the head of the field, and below it a fleet runs under full sail across a sea drawn the old way, in rows of curling waves. The scene follows the harbour views of Ottoman miniature painting, made in the century when Hayreddin Barbarossa's galleys held the Mediterranean.

Printed on polyester chenille, a soft, velvety surface with a faint sheen that takes colour the way good paper takes ink. High-resolution digital printing carries every hairline of the design onto the rug, from the smallest leaf to the vine in the border.
